Single Parenting

When I had my two girls I did not think of raising them as a single mom. No one ever dreamed of having kids without a father (my opinion) but because of circumstances, I am one of those struggling to become a father and a mother at the same time. I could not make it of course without the help of my family but it is indeed difficult and it is not something I would really recommend to all women who think being a single mom is brave enough and strong enough to become new heroes of this generation.

When my eldest daughter started having a boyfriend I got scared. Scared of my own ghost. I was afraid she would get the same mistake I had and I did not want to be the control freak kind of a mom. So when she asked me if she could take this boy courting her to be her bf I did not say "hell, no!" because I knew the feeling. when you try to ask them not to do the things you don't want them to do then the more they would really do it. Been there, done that. So I let her. But of course, guidance is there. I always encourage her to talk to me about everything and I want her to treat me as her best friend and not just her mother. I know it is kind of awkward on her part, especially that she does not really talk much about how she feels or what her thoughts are but I try my best to always be there for her(emotionally). It is hard to always be around because I work at night in a call center and when I get home I try to sleep as much as I could. 

Whatever they are going through I want to be there for them.
